4 Steps To Prevent Weight Gain This Holiday Season

Gaining weight is something that happens to most of us during the holiday season. Busy schedules, family gatherings and parties galore can make it hard to keep weight off.
These 4 simple steps will help you a lot in keeping those pounds off. This is not flashy or anything revolutionary. This is getting back to the basics that work.

Eat Breakfast

Everyone is busy during the holidays. All that running around requires energy. Do yourself and your metabolism a huge favor and eat breakfast. This will help you avoid energy crashes during the day and will also help you avoid cravings for those weight gaining foods like cookies, chips and soda.

Get Just a Little Bit Of Exercise

Even 15 minutes of exercise a day three days a week can help you keep those holiday pounds off. Get out and walk whenever you get the chance. If needed, break your walks into shorter pieces, say 10 minutes at a time.

Drink Water

During the winter it is easier to become dehydrated. Many people interpret thirst as meaning they are hungry, so the eat when their body wants them to drink. Since the body is not getting the fluids it wants you continue to think you are hungry and eat more. Staying hydrated during the dry winter months is the easiest way to avoid this very common problem.

Eat Until Satisfied

The temptation during the holidays is to eat until you can eat no more and then eat some more. Before you head out to parties be sure to eat a little snack so that you are not ravenous when you arrive to the party. Once there, eat small servings and stop when you are satisfied. By doing this you are leaving a little bit of room for dessert!
Try these 4 simple tips and you will find out that weight gain during the holidays is a thing of the past. Happy Holidays!
